Who is J. Tomas Parrales

Tomas' journey began in May of 2000, after graduating from Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Westport and while working as a masseuse in a European Spa in Orange, Conn. Here he specialized in deep tissue, hot stone, chakra and relaxation massage and where he began to enjoy giving massages as much as his clients enjoyed receiving them.

After a few years, Tomas moved to Greenwich, Conn. with an opportunity to work for a Physical Therapy Center. Tomas' growth steadily continued while working in sports medicine with a variety of patients in a clinical setting, helping with post surgeries, replacements, sports injuries, and managing chronic pain. Gaining a highly successful approach to rehabilitation, he helped with the treatment of muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and fascia, known as soft tissue. In addition to low back pain, neck pain, elbow pain, knee pain, shin splints, carpal tunnel syndrome, running injuries and numerous other conditions.

Tomas' desire to help his clients inspires him to a lifelong pursuit of learning. His passion keeps him studying. This action has earned him many certifications, including the world-renown Thai Massage Certification in 2003. Thai massage uses various techniques such as centering, ergonomics, energy lines, and moving clients into healing positions. In 2007, he obtained certification in the intensive Cranial Sacral Therapy. This massage teaches various nuances of "listening" to the body and teaches "unwinding" techniques. Within seven years at the Physical Therapy Center, Tomas' vision of owning his business became clear, and his first successful venture was to additionally deliver his personalized massages to homes and offices in CT and NY.

By June of 2008, Tomas’ dream to expand into a space of his own became a reality with the opening of his Relaxation Center, Natural Balance Therapeutic Massage, began in Shelton, Connecticut. In 2012, just four years later, Tomas continued his vision at his new offices located at 101 Elizabeth Street, Derby, Connecticut, in the Plaza on the Green Shopping Center. Throughout the years, his hands-on experience, and the growth of his practice has assisted him in developing a unique intuitive sense used to develop and help his ever-growing client base. This Shelton location also makes it easier for him to offer professional growth to his employees. Now a reality and lifelong pursuit, Natural Balance Therapeutic Massage Center serves his clients in feeling better, developing a healthy mind-body connection and achieving their overall wellness.

Over the past eight years, Tomas has been a supporter for Walk for Parkinson in Fairfield and Relay for Life in Trumbull, where his concern for people and desire to help others takes him outside of his office into neighboring communities.
